What really sets Kain Neo-Filipino Bistro apart is its creative menu. The chefs here don’t shy away from exploring the depth of Filipino cuisine while keeping it modern. One standout dish you can’t miss is the “Sinigang na Baboy” (pork in sour tamarind broth). It’s a comforting classic with a tangy twist that’s sure to leave you craving more. The balance of sour, savory, and a hint of sweetness from the tomatoes is absolutely perfect.

Another dish that highlights the bistro’s flair is the “Lechon Kawali”-crispy, golden fried pork belly served with a vinegar-based dipping sauce that packs just the right amount of punch. It's the kind of dish that could easily become your new favorite comfort food, no matter where you're from. For those who are a little more adventurous, their “Balut” is an authentic Filipino delicacy that will surely get the taste buds tingling.

What’s amazing about Kain is how they take traditional Filipino food and elevate it, while staying true to its roots. You’ll find ingredients that feel familiar but are executed in ways you may not expect. For example, their “Adobo” is a rich stew of marinated chicken or pork, slow-cooked until tender, with a depth of flavor that lingers long after each bite. It’s the perfect dish for those new to Filipino cuisine, as it’s both accessible and bold in flavor.

Aside from the incredible food, the service at Kain Neo-Filipino Bistro is exceptional. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share their love for Filipino food with each guest. • What a gem! Highly recommended! We had the Sigsig as a starter to share, then Pork Adobo and Beef Pares. Espresso Martini as desert. We loved it all. Small and very cozy restaurant. We will definitely be back here next time in Oslo.

  • Warm, hearty Filipino food with a modern, seasonal fine dining finesse. The food brings Filipino flavors to a broader palette. Each dish showcased the chef’s perspective on what Filipino food’s co-identity could be in the restaurant world. Kain captures the homey and cozy vibe of a Filipino household with welcoming flavors. We couldn’t get enough of it — the food was an experience and a proud showcase of Filipino heritage.

  • The food was incredible: traditional Filipino flavors presented in such a fresh, modern way and every plate looked beautiful. The staff were friendly and attentive and the open kitchen was super fun to watch, you really feel part of the action while watching the chefs create each dish. Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try Filipino cuisine with a special twist!

  • We have been to Kain twice and we love it. It is easy to book a place. It is located at the centrum and transport is easy. If you are planning to try the Filipino cuisine at Oslo, this place is a must-visit. We got the five course meal and wine and it does not disappoint! The flavours burst into your mouth with every bite. My husband and I loves all the dishes but our favourite is the Sisig. The portion is perfect, place is clean, and the service is top-notch.

  • Super tasty 5-course meal, we LOVED pork with tortilla and ice cream. We don’t eat lamb so the restaurant changed our wishes with amazing beef. Also, the staff was SUPER patient and nice. Such a pleasant experience and we will def come back!
